By the time I was 52, I spent decades thinking about what I should and shouldn't be eating. But those thoughts never made a difference. I still ate way too much food.
When I wasn't on a diet, I was thinking about GOING on a diet. I joined Weight Watchers (three times). Went to Overeater's Anonymous (once). Even became a vegetarian (for 4 weeks).
From my early 30's till my early 50's, dieting and weight loss was always in my thoughts. And then one morning I figured it out. I knew what I needed to do to lose weight permanently.
I finally made the adult decision to NEVER go on a diet again. I decided to change my relationship with food and no longer eat for emotional reasons. I decided to eat less and exercise more.
"But wait," I thought. "I've been there and done that before."
"Yes," I heard a tiny voice inside my head whisper. "But the difference is that you KNOW that when you change your inner thoughts, then you can easily change your habits."
For the next few months I used self hypnosis to change my thoughts. I visualized. I made myself think positive thoughts - even when I didn't feel they would make a difference. I pretended what it would feel like to be trim and healthy. I listened to weight loss CD's. I even learned how to exercise.
And it worked! I lost weight. In 4 months I let go of 20 pounds. My clothes were hanging off my body. Exercising felt great. Two months later I had lost another 10 pounds.
Was it always this easy? No, Sometimes it was hard. There were times when I was really frustrated. There were weeks when I lost only a few ounces. I hated that it took so damn long to lose the weight. Why couldn't I just wake up in the morning and be trim and slender?
Here's what used to happen to me when I tried to lose weight in the past:
I would diet successfully for a few days. The only foods that would touch my lips were fresh fruits, salads, whole grains and yogurt. And then one day I would sneak a chocolate chip cookie. And than I'd eat another. And another. And another. Sometimes I could stop myself. And sometimes I could not.
And always the next day I would feel bad and think to myself "What the heck. I pigged out last night. I might as well eat whatever I want today."
And then I would overeat and feel bad about myself. I would feel awful that I weighed so much and looked like a lump of lard. I felt bad that I let myself get so out of shape. And then when I felt bad about myself I would eat more to feel better..... It was a vicious circle. I start to eat junk again and those pounds just came back. Sound familiar?
But this time it was a whole lot different. I used self-hypnosis every night before I went to sleep. I changed my thoughts.
I made all those negative thoughts disappear. (And when they came back, I made them disappear again).I learned how to focus on WHAT I WANTED. I found new ways to handle my emotions.
I have permanently eliminated emotional eating. I have learned the secrets to eating like a slender person.
Eating out is easy. Eating in is easy. I no longer struggle with food or feel bad about myself. I've gone from a size 16 to a size 10. I enjoy shopping for clothes. My whole life has improved and yours can too. Now you can listen to the same audios and lose weight easily.
